BIRTHDAY PARTY: a fairy special tea party

25 06 2012

I am in love with the idea of hosting tea parties.  With my youngest daughter turning three, she’s happy with cake and iced tea, she wasn’t too concerned about decorations or loot bags, so I was still able to make a lot of the creative decisions.  With her personality, I know that when she is older I will have little say about these things, so I will take advantage of it while I can!

Colourful cups & saucers, finger sandwiches, bite size goodies … lots of yummy little treats for the girls and boys attending the party.  I found the fairy wings after Halloween and decided to use them to decorate the chairs.  The kids wore the wings at the party and got to take them home.

Loot Bags

Loot Bags

I wanted pretty loot bags.  These are gift bags with a pretty lace-like appearance.  I used letter beads to spell out the names of each of the kids attending the party; a little added touch that I thought added a nice personalized feel to the loot bag.

The Cake

The Cake

I had such high hopes for baking a homemade cake.  I found one on that I fell in love with.  Started decorating it and the top was beautiful, but the icing would not stick to the side of the cake!  It kept rolling off, so (the perfectionist that I am) scrapped the homemade cake idea and purchased a one from Dairy Queen.  DQ made a very pretty cake and the fairy on it now sits in my daughter’s bedroom on a shelf.
